I have created some free backgrounds, for now just a free background, for the Iphone's new os which allows custom background on the springboard as well as the welcome screen (it was about time). Here is my latest digital print, the composition just kind of came to me in a dream and fell in place. The bird is wearing clothing based on Christian Dior, fifi lapin, and Louis Vuitton, as well as signature Dr Dre headphones.

The Cape.
This accessory turned out rather well. I put out the money for some really high end paint pens, I ended up dropping 200+ on these pens but the results are awesome!
One more suggestion wash your munny with some kind of de-greasing detergent before you paint.

Here is my first attempt at painting a munny. Started out with the accessories and THANK GOD because decocolor xylene based paint pens are not good for painting on porous surfaces such as vinyl. However they work like a charm on smooth plastics check out my Contra blog http://ccontrac.com.
This hairpiece accessory is painted using decocolor but I had to top it with a clear coat because it would not dry, the parts where I used sharpie smudged a bit but for the rest it actually turned out presentable. That was just lucky because often the topcoat may contain solvents that melt your paint (never a good look). My suggestion is always do your research before attempting any type of craft, but take it from me never ever use oil based paint on porous vinyl, some things you just learn the hard way.

So the exhibit at the museum of making music Carlsbad CA went not so well for me and my product in the exhibit. I wont name names but when a company decides to do a work pro bono they should take it just as seriously and professionally as any other job, this was not the case. Long story short the stomp boxes did not come out as beautifully as anticipated and the result was somewhat of an embarrassment for me. It's all part of the hard work us artists must face.

Here is a photo of the stompbox fresh out of the factory when it still looked presentable.

The Art of the Stomp Box

The Art of the Stomp Box is an upcoming exhibit at the Museum of Making Music in Carlsbad California (May 1, through September 30, 2010). I have had the opportunity of designing sculptural effect pedals for the exhibit. The pics below show the concept designs of these pedals. The red one is a phaser and the yellow a wah wah pedal.

Here is the latest in the qr-paintings series, it was too large to project so I had to do this number you see in the photos, which entails cutting out a printed qr code piece by piece, then taping it onto the canvas (by eyeballing it), and finally tracing it. I hope I will never have to go through the process again, but it turned out awesome!

After much work there are currently seven pieces in the monoQRom collection.

4 of them are 8x8 inch, 1 16x20 inch, 1 4x4 inches, and the largest at 24x36 inches.

This is unrelated to the monoQRom project, but it looks really cool.

Its a bear designed using google Sketchup which I just learned how to use in the past

two days. I will post this bear to the 3d model warehouse, so keep your eye out for it!

This was a test to see if I could paint a

qr code accurately enough that it could still be decoded.

Gladly (and somewhat surprisingly it worked).

This is a 16 by 20 inch canvas board.

Two instances of the same qr code are

painted on it (using acrylic based paint).

The larger one is 6x6 inches and the smaller

is 2.5x2.5 inches.

Currently working on a senior thesis project entitled the Q.R.code project.

The work is an exploration of virtual space and how that relates to art. The art is aliased by physical objects, in this case canvases with paintings of qr codes. The piece is reminiscent of Robert Rauschenberg's 1951 "white paintings" where the lack of images was actually the art, here the lack of human legible images is the art. Utilizing the qr code or quick response code, (a type of matrix code), the viewer is faced with what seems a plain repetive image that resembles a price tag. The codes can be read via cell phone, they will link to images of my artwork created in illustrator.
